Weekend and another Lolita contest! ♡

Hello everyone! On Saturday my boyfriend and I took a walk to visit a recently opened ice cream place. Yes, another ice cream shop I know, it might be an addiction. This one is called Dri Dri and they make their own waffle cones. The price was reasonable and I intend to go back sometime. They didn't have many flavor options which was a negative point for me, I almost always get fruity flavors and that day they didn't have any available, the shop usually has about 4 fruit flavors which is really nothing much. Anyway we got pistachio and biscuit gelato, the biscuit one was too good so I would go back for that flavor for sure!

The biscuit ice cream is the top one, it didn't taste like cookies, it tasted something like gingerbread, with cinnamon, hard to explain :/ but one of the best ice creams I've tried and I'm kind off picky.
We then went to the new Lush Spa, the flagship store in Brazil. We used to have Lush here about five years ago and then they closed and until a couple months ago we didn't have Lush anymore in the country. I was excited to see the store and hoping to purchase the Bubblegum Lip Scrub that so many girls on Instagram recommend but when I got there it was a big disappointment to find out that the prices were so absurd, the products here cost twice the price I saw on the UK website, so unfair, the lip scrub was about 18 USD (R$41,00).

The bath bombs were not so expensive like the other products (still cost much more than in the UK) but since I don't have a bath tube I can't use them :/
On our way back home we saw a Los Paleteros store opened in the neighborhood so we had to stop by! Los Paleteros is a popsicle shop that sells ''paletas mexicanas'' (mexican popsicle) when my boyfriend and I first tried those popsicles they didn't even exist in my city yet, it was during our trip in the South of Brazil last January. We instantly fell in love with the natural fruit popsicles filled with condensed milk, it is the best thing ever and everyone needs to try.

Los Paleteros is pretty good and they have a good range of flavors but "La Neveria" in Florianopolis is still the best mexican popsicle shop I've ever been. There's also "Me Gusta" around here. I recommend all three although only La Neveria has the blackberry + condensed milk flavor (my favorite).
Last stop: fancy grocery store just to buy some juice and rice crackers and look at the beautiful cakes, which were crazy expensive by the way:

During the World Cup I met an American couple and they were telling me how shocked they were by how everything is crazy nuts ridiculously expensive in Brazil. What's even worse is that most brazilians don't have good salaries, for example, back the time I was working on retail I would have to work two days to afford one of those cakes in the picture above. Luck for me I'm really good at finding good things for a reasonable price even though they are somewhat rare. So if you are brazilian or if you happen to come here someday you'll know the places that are worth your visit and your money. Next time I travel I hope to get tips from my readers too ^^

On Sunday we went to Anime Friends (the most important annual anime event here), even though we already had our tickets we had to wait in the biggest line ever, it was cold as hell and raining and I almost missed the contest I was going to participate. After about an hour and a half in the line and already late for the contest I got to speak with a staff member who let me in. I got in the place where the contest was going to happen just in time, I'm really unsure if I'd have been able to participate if I had to stay in the line until God knows when, that made me really pissed off not to mention the rain was ruining my outfit >.<
The Ribbon Fashion Contest happens once a year in December, during the year Lolitas from all parts of Brazil go to the anime events were the judges pick the 10 girls who will be in the big final in December, since Anime Friends is a big event there would be three winners and those three would join seven other on the final. I'm not sure if I explained well but I hope you get it :/
In the final there will also be three winners and those winners will get brand items as a prize (last year the 1st place got a BTSSB jsk and some other things and the 2nd place got a Usakumya rucksack and the 3rd place got a little something from Baby too).
Anyway, as you guys already know I've been wearing Lolita for three months now and I don't have a complete wardrobe yet, I decided to wear my Sweet Cream Strawberry Days skirt by Baby with brown acessories, it was going to be just fine if I had a brown lolita bag, and since I don't, I had to use an off-brand bag which is not very loliable and made my outfit look somewhat casual and I felt very insecure about it, before entering the stage I debated with myself whether I should take the bag with me or not and I'm glad I ended up taking it with me. I was also a little unsure about my skirt since I felt that if I was wearing a dress I would have more chances.
Anyways, I tried my best with the things I had in my wardrobe, tried to be creative and I wish I had taken better pictures of my outfit to show you guys but I suck at doing so...

Before leaving home my boyfriend took a polaroid. Here are the accessories I wore:

I wore a brown beret and my purpleish brown wig (which I cut shorter) with the bigger brown bow above on my head. The velvet ribbon is from my Sweet Cream House JSK and I used on my blouses collar.

Picture I took with some other lolitas. I was really tired and with dark circles so my face was terrible.

I wore my brown tea party shoes, with off white frilly socks and very light pink tights. And to make my ordinary handbag more Lolita I hung a pink pompom and a strawberry tart charm.

I don't have a good head-to-toe picture but they took many pictures of us there during the contest and eventually I'll find them online and post here! My boyfriend, who was watching, took pictures with his iPad, they didn't turn out that good but I'll post them here anyway :/. Eight girls participated and I was the 4th one to enter the stage, the judges asked me a few questions. It's funny because I don't tend to get nervous being in front of a lot of people, I was pretty calm but I didn't know what to answer when they asked me "Why not other cute japanese fashion, like fairy kei for example?" and I was like "Errr... I dunno '-' ". I have to say that this contest was way better organized then the other one I participated. Shortly after all girls showed their outfits to the judges they called us all on stage to announce the winners who would be participating on the final in December. I was so happy when they called my name in 3rd place, so happy that even though I didn't have a proper bag, even though it was only my 4th time wearing Lolita I managed to get a place to the final!! They announced the 2nd place and they said a ''surprise person'' was going to give the 1st place her award and then Miku from An Cafe entered the stage and gave the girl her 1st place award. Everyone went crazy, I know An Cafe, and although I don't like J-music I thought it was really nice of him to go there to see the brazilian lolitas and everything, he was really nice to us and said that we were so cute that he wish he could take us to Japan with him hahaha :)
Now I have to plan a perfect outfit and hope I'll win 1st place in December, the 10 best lolitas will be there and I know it won't be easy.
Everytime I wear a new outfit I point out the things I would like to improve. For this outfit like I said, I wish I had a brown lolita bag and I wish I had put more effort on my make-up, I don't know why but my make-up wasn't very nice that day :/

Bad face day :p
Besides that I'm really happy with the outfit and I even got an award too:

Here are the pictures my boyfriend took with his iPad, hopefully I'll get the official pictures soon:

Randomly found this one on Facebook.
That's it guys! Unfortunately this is my last week of vacation, I'll have to go back to my study routine pretty soon so I won't be able to post as often as I've been posting lately, I'll try my best to post once a week and keep you guys updated through the 30 day Lolita challenge, the weekend posts (although I won't be doing much besides studying from now on) and my little hauls. Please keep supporting me and thank you very much for your visits and comments ♡

10 Things I love in Lolita ♡

Hello there! Continuing with the 30 day Lolita challenge today I'll talk about the 10 Things I love in Lolita:
  1. Details: I love how detailed Lolita fashion can be and the attention that brands pay on the smallest details be them on the print or the themed laces and buttons. I love the richness of detail and thought lolitas put on their outfits too.
  2. Non-obvious cuteness: another thing I love in Lolita (at least in the sub-styles I like) is it's cuteness. I can be cute and different at the same time therefore I feel the clothes suit my personality which doesn't happen when I try to wear ordinary cute clothes.
  3. For me Lolita is also a feminist statement: I see Lolita as a very feminist fashion because although it's very girly it doesn't meet any mainstream standards. I think lolitas really don't care about what other people think about their style, they don't care what guys think of their style, they just care about they think themselves. Lolitas are not concerned about being what men or society expect them to be or look like, that's probably the thing I love the most about Lolita, the empowerment of being whatever you wanna be.
  4. Meeting people with same tastes as me: even before I took any interest on Lolita fashion I already liked things many lolitas do: tea, desserts, kawaii Japanese characters, cute games for Nintendo DS, taking cute pictures, etc. But until I got into Lolita I'd never met any girls (outside the Internet) who liked same stuff as me. When I went to the Lolita contest last month I had the opportunity to talk with some lolitas and me and my boyfriend both found really funny how many things the other lolitas and I had in common, something we never seen before. Here in Brazil most girls have totally different tastes than me, they like going to the gym, tanning, going to nightclubs, being super sexy and although I'm okay befriending girls like that I really missed having friends who embrace the kawaii lifestyle.
  5. Feeling girly for once: it might be shocking to you but I'm not actually girly. I'm always on black skinny jeans, Vans, combat boots, etc. My everyday style is rather dark. Sometimes when I'm going out with my boyfriend I might put a dress or a skirt on, but always in black, navy or other dark colors, with only a few (if any) accessories. When I dress like that I don't feel ''less myself '' than wearing Lolita. When I dress like that it reflects the personality I have with strangers and the way I feel comfortable walking on the street. I'm very reserved, I don't have many friends, when I dress like that I feel protected in some way. When I get to wear Lolita though I feel like freeing my girly side and it feels good to do so once in a while.
  6. Angelic Pretty and Baby, The Stars Shine Bright: if I'd never seen Usakumya-chan or prints like Honey Cake and Toy March I don't think I would be a lolita today. The enchantment I had (and still have) for AP's and Baby's clothes are the reason I got into Lolita.
  7. Connecting more with Japanese culture: like I said on my last 30 day challenge post I used to be more into Korean things before Lolita. I'm quite a big fan of k-pop and korean food, I know much more about Korean culture than Japanese culture. I already liked anime, japanese food, Sanrio, Rilakkuma and Studio Ghibli before Lolita got into my life but I had an almost inexistent knowledge of Japanese fashion. I had only a vague idea of what Lolita and Gyaru were but after Lolita I got to know Japanese brands, other fashion styles and learn more about japanese people in general.
  8. Having fun: Lolita is a very fun fashion. I get to wear a wig, put on a dolly make-up and feel special.
  9. The feeling of holding a dream item: I haven't gotten any of my dream dresses yet but I guess the feeling is not too different from the one I had holding my first Angelic Pretty dress, I'm looking forward to have more of those moments soon ^^
  10. Food themes: and the last thing I'm gonna mention is my favorite theme for Lolita outfits and prints which is food. I love strawberry, cherry, desserts, biscuit and chocolate themes in Lolita those are for sure my favorites ♡
And that's it guys hope you enjoyed my list and please feel free to leave a comment telling me what's the thing you love the most about Lolita!
Thank You so much for reading and have a great week ♡

My room ♡

Hi everyone! Today I'm gonna post about something I get asked a lot on Instagram, which is my room. In actuality my room is not nearly as nice as you may think and there are many other girls with prettier rooms out there on the internet, but I'm proud of what I managed to do with the small space I have, not so long ago my room used to be really plain and I barely had any furniture in it, I have a very large closet that occupies an entire wall from the floor to the ceiling with seven doors so most of my stuff used to be inside this closet. Last year when I was working at retail I started to gradually invest on making my room a more comfortable and cute space. Besides my bed, the closet and the shelves I bought all the furniture, my chair, my desk, my dressing table, my cupboard, my tea wagon and all my bedding with my own money as well as other decor pieces you are about too see. Unfortunately I hadn't cleaned my room before I took those pictures. It's winter here where I live now and my room doesn't get much sunlight specially during this season making it hard to get good pictures. I don't have a camera right now so I depend on taking pictures with my phone and the natural light makes a huge difference, so excuse the low quality of my pictures. I'm very organized and I always keep my room like that, except when my boyfriend comes over in the weekends and messes everything up, but my room wasn't as tidy as I like when I took the pictures so I hope no one notices that hahaha. Also is not my intention to brag about anything when I post things I own here, it's just the kind of post I like to see on other girls blogs, I love room tours and "what's in my bag" posts, Lolita wardrobe posts, etc so it's natural that I want to post similar things because I find them fun to see, so please don't misunderstand me ok? Let's all inspire and get inspired by each other instead of seeing this as bragging or showing off.

My bed, which was not with my favorite bedding today! I have three sets, they are all floral, they were all bought in Brazil and I get this questioned a lot, they are all from the same brazilian brand and I don't think it's possible to find anywhere else. The dessert print cushion is handmade (not by me, but I bought the fabric) and my Korilakkuma that my boyfriend brought from Japan in April.

Left side of my shelf: Little Twin Stars portrait and Mark Ryden portrait, some Yankee Candles which I love, my jar of paper straws, my little gingerbread guy and the Hello Kitty tea set my boyfriend gave me last year on my birthday.

Right side: "I ♡ Macarons" book I bought from Urban Outfitters and my shabby chic heart mirror I bought here in Brazil. Sonny Angel doll (Fruit series, it's the lemon one ^^), more Mark Ryden, a rose candle, Ikea candle trio, ice cream bank from Urban Outfitters, Daiso bunny mug. Those white frames are from Daiso too.

My desk is right beside the bed, hanging on the chair are my Rilakkuma handbag and my pink Daiso sleeping mask. Under the desk are my Vogue magazine collection (I used to collect Vogue from all countries when I was younger) inside floral pink boxes and my text books for studying are also there with my Rilakkuma folder and other school things.

On the desk: my strawberry trash can I got from Fancy Goods (local store that sells cute stuff), my markers I put in this ceramic bowl thingie from Daiso, the pen holders are from Swimmer and my boyfriend bought them in Japan as well as the My Melody paper clips, the piano calculator is from Daiso and my Nintendo 3DS, some tissues and my glasses usually hang out there too. By the desk I have my cupboard.

On the top of my cupboard: Little Twin Stars pencil case, little tin box with tiny office supplies from Swimmer, Kiki's Delivery service tin box I use to store tea from the Ghibli Museum, my Sylvanian Families bunnies, my Soft Blanket Yankee Candle, my Angelic Pretty Wonder Cookie stationery mook and my one and only Gothic & Lolita Bible, those things were bought in Japan and some of them I don't know where can be found elsewhere, the shabby chic flower vase was bought here in Brazil.

Inside I have some stationery, letter sets, washi tape, sticker sheets, decoden supply, this cupboard also has two drawers bellow where I keep more craft supplies.

Above the desk I have shelves, the top one has a big box from Daiso full of books, the Yakult banks can be found easily in Brazil but I don't know about other countries, cupcake bank is from Urban Outfitters, more Yankee Candles, my Fashion Bible book, my marimo ball, My Melody plushie, Instax camera, some art books, etc. On the bottom shelf my Hunger Games books, my John Green books and my mangas (mostly Nana). The Jiji plushie is from the Ghibli Museum but the Sentimental Circus elephant can be found on eBay, there's also my Hello Kitty champagne, my Angelic Pretty note book and the smaller pink box where I keep my penpal's letters.

This wall is basically my window and the other side of my bed right next to it, in the little space left there is my tea wagon with more paper straws, my custom made lamp, my bunny lamp, etc. I bought the gold frame and the ceramic cupcake here in Brazil, there's also a candy jar with pink bubblegum, a glass water bottle, a Rilakkuma plushie holding a hamburger over a cute box where I store more tea.
Then I have my chargers and a box with my Japanese magazines.

Close to the tea wagon I have the 7th door of my closet where I keep my kitchen stuff, mugs, trays, cups, bento boxes, etc.

The 5th and the 6th doors open to my Lolita wardrobe where I also keep some of my skincare (this picture sucks 'cause it's dark inside the closet :p)

My mirror with some polaroids and things, the first and the second doors open to my shoes and handbags, and the third and fourth to my civilian clothes which are all black and boring.

Last but not least my dressing table, there's too much on it to describe but it's pretty much a lot of Etude House, some of my favorite perfumes, etc.

Besides Etude House my favorite brand is MAC, I have a few things on the top of the table but most is in the drawers.

The middle drawer also contains more MAC products and a few eyeshadow palettes (I'm not much of an eyeshadow girl) and more MAC lipsticks (I forgot to take a picture).

In this drawer I keep some random stuff, like circle lenses, fake eyelashes, eye drops, brushes, mirrors, etc.
And that's all!! Like I said my room is very small, I don't have a nice space with beautiful windows, nicely painted walls, a nice carpet or great lighting but I made the best I could with what I had and I'm happy about it. I know it's hard to believe but nothing in my room was expensive (except for the very few Angelic Pretty things I have in my closet) all the rest was either very cheap or for a reasonable price since I'm great finding things! I can't wait to have my own house and my own kitchen ^^

Thank You for reading and hope you liked ♡

10 Things about my Lolita bubble ♡

Hello! I decided to kind of do the 30 Day Lolita Challenge, but I'll do it my way only answering what I feel relevant 'cause that's how I roll things in here, just kidding (not really '-'). Anyway I'm not sure if I understood what the "Lolita bubble" means, at first I thought it was something about my local Lolita community or loli friends but from what I've seen on other blogs it's more like 10 random facts of your Lolita life. Here we go:
  1. I started wearing Lolita three months ago and I started wanting to wear Lolita since the beginning of this year.
  2. My favorite brands are Angelic Pretty and Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. I wish I could be more hipster about it, but nope, AP and Baby have all my love and attention.
  3. I wish I could have "Fancy Eggs" by Metamorphose and "Lotta" by Innocent World though.
  4. I'm not very familiar and comfortable around the local lolitas yet, I feel I'm a bit out of place and that I'll never get to be friends with them, not because I don't want too but because they seem too hard to get close.
  5. I don't like wearing Lolita without a wig because my hair is too ''natural looking'' like summer waves and split ends. I don't have a doll-like hair :/. But at the same time I don't like wearing wigs because they make me hot and sometimes I even get a headache after several hours wearing one.
  6. I wish I had a bigger Lolita wardrobe with more dresses, blouses, handbags...I'm so amazed about any other lolita's wardrobes but I try to remind myself those girls have been wearing Lolita for years and had more time to gather stuff and that eventually I'll get there too.
  7. There are quite a few super popular prints I personally don't like for example: Milky Planet, Fantastic Dolly and Crystal Dream Carnival. I'd buy a Milky Planet if it was, like, super cheap and see if I could coordinate to suit my tastes, so although I don't like some prints I never say never to them.
  8. I'm not very pleased by the "breaking the rules" trends in Lolita, but do what you want with your outfit I won't judge just wouldn't do the same myself. By the way I don't like that peignoir trend that is going on lately.
  9. So although I love Angelic Pretty I think Baby suits better my style since I feel they are more traditional.
  10. Lolita brought me closer to the Japanese culture in general since I was more into Korean things before. Now it's 60% Japan 40% Korea. Someday I'll make a post about what I like from each of them better.

Weekend stuff: The Fault in Our Stars and food ♡

Hello everyone! Thursday my boyfriend and I attempted to go see an exhibition (Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum one) but the tickets were already sold out so we went to watch The Fault in Our Stars at the movie theater instead.
I'm a big fan of John Green, I watch his videos on YouTube and I've read two of his books (will grayson; will grayson which I loved and Paper Towns which I haven't liked that much) but no, I never red TFIOS, not because I didn't want too, but because I kept postponing buying the book, I don't read English books translated into Portuguese because the translation annoys me and the English version is not as cheap and easy to find as the translated one.Of course if the original book is written in German or French, for example, I don't mind the translation since I don't speak those languages.
About the movie: same thing you are hearing from everyone else, that is really sad and I cried a lot, etc but I really enjoyed the movie despite it's sadness, we also got to know another ice cream shop that day which was actually a Crepe & Waffles store with an Ice Cream shop attached to it, from what I've heard this is a Colombian brand that just opened a few stores around here.

Blackberry and Cream with Brownie pieces.
I wore my Angelic Pretty Sweet Cream House Bear Bag with the most casual outfit ever that day and I think it worked out pretty well (glitter ballerina flats not in the picture plus black beret and red lipstick):

On Saturday we went to a vegetarian place for lunch, it was called Horta Cafe & Bistrot (and it's around Pinheiros in case you are from here) I only have compliments to make about their food and service.

Our choices were very typical brazilian dishes (feijoada and moqueca if you know what I mean) that usually have meat and fish, but in very creative vegetarian versions. Instead of using fish for example, they used mushrooms.
If you live around here and enjoy vegetarian food I strongly recommend this place also because it's so inexpensive and the dessert is included:

Pavê (cold chocolate pie).
Later on Saturday we went to Inside Grill & Salad with my boyfriends family, it was really fun. The place is a very American and Mexican influenced Steak House. They have really yummy raspeberry Iced Tea refill but sadly the waitress said they had ran out of tea that day. My boyfriend and his family ordered ribs and since I don't eat that I ordered a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel.

Had to remove all the onions >.<
Just would like to point out that I am not a vegetarian I'm just extremely picky when it comes to meat and all animal related food. I do eat meat once in a while when I feel like it but my daily diet consists mostly on carbs, veggies, etc. I do feel sorry about the animals but I try not to look for videos and stuff like that because I tend to get obsessed about things. The actual reason I avoid meat today is simply because I find it a little bit yucky and I think it's bad for my health. I hope someday I can be a vegetarian and talk my loved ones into it too.
On the Saturday afternoon we briefly went to our local Asian district too, a Tanabata Matsuri was happening there and we had the chance to try ginger ice cream, I also brought a daifuku home:

Daifuku is usually a mochi with azuki bean paste and a whole strawberry inside but this one was mochi with the whole strawberry, whipped cream and cake instead you can buy it at Kaisen store at Galvão Bueno (although most readers of this blog are from the U.S, the second most are from Brazil so I feel the need to give the information in case they want :p)
The highlight of the day was that my boyfriend got a haircut!! He hadn't had one in about a year and his hair was so long that he was wearing it in a ponytail most of the time, we went to a hair salon and I shameless showed a picture of Lee Minho to the hair stylist and ta-dah! He looks so different after the haircut that I'm still taking my time getting used to his new appearance because even though his looks improved I kinda miss his old self. I'll see if I can get a good picture of him next weekend hahaha (evil girlfriend laugh).
On Sunday we stayed home being lazy and watching the 4th season of The Walking Dead, I cooked salmon with mushrooms for dinner and we watched Divergent online, I was quite surprised to see that the main character of Divergent is played by the same actress that plays Hazel on TFIOS but when I saw that the Divergent girl's brother was the same actor that plays Augustus then I was really shocked... such a coincidence we watched both movies in the same weekend! I didn't like this movie that much and I don't intend to read the book series, some people compare it to the Hunger Games but to me the second is much superior. I might watch the upcoming "Divergent" movies though.
That's it for today, have a great week everyone ♡
